This profile would not possible, if we did not “stand on the shoulders” of those who were following, documenting, and writing about the Badlees story from the beginning.
About a year ago, I came across a web page put together by Alan K. Stout that linked to all his previous articles that he had written over the years (about 40 in all) on the Badlees and their members while writing for the Wilkes-Barre Times Leader and The Weekender. After ready through all of them, this archive would serve to be our main inspiration in putting together this comprehensive profile.
Once, we decided to this, Sandy and Ron Simasek (Sr.) were gracious enough to let us root through their scrap book (or more accurately “scrap bin”) that included newspapers, magazines, promo photos, tee-shirts, hats, cassette tapes, etc. – dating to the very beginning with Bad Lee White. Their son Ron, drummer of the band, was able to get us all the music that is no longer available commercially so we could listen to each and every stop along the way of the Badlees journey.
Ron Simasek also answered oodles of questions that we sent him, as did Bret Alexander and Pete Palladino from the band, and gave me contact information for several others who played a part in the Badlees success. These included songwriter Mike Naydock, current manager Chris Gardner, and former manager Terry Selders, who gave a 90-minute interview by phone that answered a tremendous amount of questions as well as provided many previously unknown facts.
Terry Selders also wrote one of the related articles for this profile, as did writers J.D. Cook and Leah Della Croce, who I’d like to offer a special thanks for their efforts.
We hope that everything in this article is true and accurate. If you come accross anything that you feel is inaccurate or if you there is something relevant that was omitted, please notify us at ric@ModernRockReview.com.
